The Obstetrics and Gynaecological (OBGYN) department of District Hospital Kargil provides comprehensive care for women’s health, focusing on both reproductive and non-reproductive issues. It serves women at various stages of life, from adolescence to menopause and beyond. The department offers services in two primary areas: obstetrics, which involves the care of pregnant women, and gynaecology, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of female reproductive system disorders.

Key procedures in the obstetrics section include the following.

• Prenatal care
• Normal and high-risk deliveries
• Cesarean sections
• Postnatal care

The department also offers the following.

Screenings, ultrasounds, and counseling for expectant mothers. In gynaecology, common procedures include routine pelvic exams, pap smears, laparoscopic surgery, and treatments for conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, and pelvic inflammatory disease.
