What Should You Know Before The Test
Depending on the type of hematology test, fasting may be required. Common blood tests, such as a complete blood count (CBC), generally don’t require fasting, but tests measuring glucose, lipids, or iron levels may require you to fast for 8-12 hours
Inform your doctor about any medications, supplements, or herbal remedies you're taking. Some medications, such as blood thinners, can affect your test results.
Drink plenty of water before your test, unless advised otherwise. Staying hydrated can make it easier for the technician to draw blood.
Refrain from drinking alcohol or smoking before the test, as these can affect the results, especially in liver function or blood sugar levels.
